Celebration Iowa Scholarship Program

During the summer of 2006, one cast member earned $1,700 through the Celebration Iowa scholarship program. The scholarship program allows students to raise scholarship money as they spend their summer developing their performance skills. Here's how the Celebration Iowa scholarship program works.

Following their selection to the Celebration Iowa cast in late March, cast members raise funds in the their communities in order to be a member of the group. Each cast member is required to raise $1,000. That $1,000 goes to the Celebration Iowa program to cover costs including travel, housing, and food.

Any amount the student raises over $1,000 becomes a "student account." This student account allows cast members to charge items in case of emergency during the summer. If money remains in the account following completion of the program, it is returned to the student in the form of a scholarship reimbursement check. The Celebration Iowa scholarship can be spent on college and university costs, music, music lessons, instrument repair and/or upgrades, and any other educationally related costs.
